Laŭleĝa Enreta Pokero Trovas Subtenon Inter Kalifornianoj

Kun la stato de Kalifornia estado sub severaj financaj problemoj, a debate has been doing the rounds on whether online gambling should be legalized or not. In fact, even the state legislature has been discussing plans to make online gambling in California legal for the past two years.

The results of a Field Poll released in September show the growing support for the legalization of Internet poker. A major chunk of Californian voters, particularly those less than 40 years of age, support the proposal to tax online poker. When the opinion of all age groups is taken into account, the percentage of voters in support of the idea stands at 53, while those against it stands at 41. Tamen, the notable thing is the support among voters aged less than 40 years who comprise 73 percent of the proponents to the proposal of taxing online poker.

While debating on the pros and cons of such a move, several California lawmakers, who are the proponents, opine that the state’s budget deficit of $25 billion can be brought down with the potential revenue generated by such a move. The tremendous voter support for online poker, where two in three California voters are in favor of taxing and regulating online poker, has given them a big boost. What’s more, since the estimated number of Californians playing online poker stands at a whopping 489,000, California could reap $1 billion in taxes and fees over a period of 10 years with legalized online poker.

Despite the rosy picture painted by proponents of taxing online poker, opponents of the move are apprehensive. They fear that in its quest to make money, the state may end up encouraging players to gamble too much and end into poorhouses. Another point is the confusion likely to stem up from competing legislations to make online poker legal. While some lawmakers are in favor of letting existing poker rooms seek an indefinite number of online poker licenses, some others are in favor of limiting the licenses, which they want to be awarded through bidding. Keeping the profits in California and dealing with a preliminary surge of large amounts of money due to frenzied bidding by potential operators are other factors that need to be chalked out before legalizing Internet poker. Keeping an eye on the cash prizes on offer is yet another aspect, which should be weighed to ensure that the operators don’t dupe the players.

So, amidst such opposing views, it remains to be seen if online poker is legalized in California and how it benefits poker players by creating competition among operators if the proposal really becomes a law.

Las Vegas Pokero – De Punkto de Virina Ludisto De Vido

As a female poker player and resident of Las Vegas, I am always interested in poker tournaments around town specifically for ladies. Don’t get me wrong – I enjoy playing poker events with both genders, probably even more than exclusively female poker tournaments. But any woman who plays ladies events knows that there is a distinct increase in the “fun” and “camaraderie” level; they have a bit more of a social feel to them. They may not be where I have made the most money playing, but I have met some of my best friends in Las Vegas through playing ladies poker events.

Most poker rooms in Las Vegas do not offer special ladies poker tournaments. Especially in this rough economic time, most poker rooms have already cut back their poker tournament schedules to bare bones compared to this time the past few years. If they do offer them, they are just not well advertised. So I have gotten used to visiting the LIPS Tour website (www.lipstour.com) to find the occasional event and participating in the WSOP Ladies Event each year.

I happened to stumble upon a website just the other day that surprisingly provided information for some ladies poker tournaments that, until now, I had no idea existed. The site is called Las Vegas Poker Source and, had I not visited, I would not know that Planet Hollywood has a ladies tournament every Tuesday night at 9pm. Fiesta Henderson has one every Monday at 5pm. Excalibur hosts one every Friday night at 8pm. And as I investigated the site’s “Poker Tournament” tab, I continued to find all sorts of ladies events!

Not only does Las Vegas Poker Source provide this little-known information for me as a female player, but they have every Las Vegas daily poker tournament covered in great detail, including contact information and a write up for each unique poker room, the structures (blind levels, starting chips, etc), and more. I was also excited to see that they have a “Poker Training” tab on the site. I’ve been considering getting a poker coach for awhile now, and there are several links to training with some of the top professionals out there, and even some you can do from the comfort of your own home by video.

If you’re complete a poker junkie like me, you can also follow Las Vegas Poker Source on your Twitter account (@LVPokerSource) and receive tweets about a half hour prior to a poker tournament starting. So now when I’m bored or feeling the itch to go play, I always have some tournament options at my convenience.

This is a poker website I have added to my bookmarks tab as a favorite and I suggest you check it out as well. It fills a big void that I, as a poker playing resident of Las Vegas, have needed filled for some time. It looks like I will be playing a lot more besides just the World Series of Poker 2010 Ladies Event this year!

Liberaj Pokeraj Turniroj Aka Pokero Freerolls

October 16, 2011 De

Since the time of dawn mankind has favored whatever was free. This also counts in the world of poker. In the poker world there is no such thing as a poker site that doesn’t offer free stuff whether it be free poker money, great bonuses or free poker tournaments – or most likely all three things together. Free poker money is a quite seldom phenomenon in these times of financial and economic crisis worldwide. Instead Poker sites offer huge bonuses to their highstakers or to those new players who wants to try the software and test if online poker is their thing then the poker sites offer them free poker tournaments. The free poker tournaments are actually not normally known as that but as Poker Freerolls. This is important if you look for free poker tournaments as you won’t find any. The reason they are known as poker freerolls is actually a quite special story. In the 60′s in Las Vegas new customers who entered a casino where offered a roll with chips for gambling on the houae. They weren’t worth much but were seen as a complimentary from the casino. These soon became known as free rolls, and later on these freerolls got integrated in the language of online poker and came to mean simply Free Poker Tournaments.

Different Poker Freerolls

There are several different types of poker freerolls. There are poker freerolls for highstakers given by the poker sites to reward their big time players for choosing their site instead of another. Last week I played a SNG freeroll – meaning a freeroll with only 10 players on one table. First price was an EPT main event entrance ticket (second and third gave 2 and 3 k I think) – I busted on the bubble. There are Poker Freerolls for new players. These are in general in two versions. The first poker freerolls are for new players who haven’t made a deposit yet. These are in general quite big in terms of numbers of players and quite small in terms of prizes. The other kind of poker freerolls for new depositing players are typically smaller in numbers – but not always – what is certain is their prizes are way bigger sometimes up to $ 100.000 in the prize pool. There is also a last type of Poker Freerolls that might have a few players interest and that is the small SNG freerolls with very small prize pools. These are played on a few European sites and are played nonstop. Our advice is try the different freerolls out and check what you prefer – our experience is that when it comes down to what to play: It is all a matter of temper!

Free Online Poker Strategy Guide To How To Move All-In

October 16, 2011 De

Moving all-in is the most serious of all manoeuvres in poker be it free online poker or high stakes games. The accepted wisdom is that you should only move all-in with hands that have a chance to beat the most common all-in Big Hands like AK and AQ.

This is because these are the hands also most prepared to call. Which hands, then, are we willing to put our tournament life on? Pocket pairs spring to mind. So does A-K (or A-Q or even K-Q suited or K-J suited if you are running out of chips)

But someone does it differently. I’d like to add that here; player B is usually an impatient, rowdy player who is familiar to us TV poker fans.

BLINDS 12k/24k

A has Ad-Kd raises 75k

A’s raise is just standard for A-K suited, though it is slightly stronger (the average preflop raise is about 2.5x the big blind, but this raise is a little more than thrice). But look at B’s move, which might be less standard:

B has 10c-5c moves all-in 544k

How about that: a 10-5? With about 22 big blinds left, which is relatively a short-stack (but not so short), B moves all-in. However with a 10-5? B can wait for slightly better hands than this.

Now let us try to justify the 10-5 in this situation. If B did it with a small pair, he is a slight favourite (about 55-45). If with A-x (with x smaller than a King), he is a significant underdog (about 75-25).

With any two cards except Ace or King, he is a less significant underdog (about 66-34). So with the win-rate of 10-5 against Ace King (B deciding that A’s hand is Ace King or alike is a gamble; if he is up against Ace Ace then he is a serious underdog at about 85-15) is simply the average of the win rate of a pocket pair against Ace King and the win rate of A-x against A-K, and as such not too nasty.

Moreover, with 10c-5c B has two live cards, compared with A-x, where x is the only live card. Moreover, B may dislike having 22 big blinds dwindle to, say, 15 or 14 later, so he decides to put his heart and soul into this hand. Who is this player, anyway? “I’ve got a 10-5, boys and girls.” Yes it’s true, the garrulous Mike Matusow! “The Mouth!”

A calls 469k (Pot 1.124m)

Now let us observe how “The Mouth” will fare against all odds.

FLOP: Js-7c-5s

“That’s a Flop!” A Five fell, pairing Matusow!

TURN: Js-7c-5s-8d

RIVER: Js-7c-5s-8d-6d

Moving all-in can end up being one of the most dangerous moments in poker. Even in free online poker it can also be the most thrilling, anyway. The all-in recharged Matusow’s stack to 45 big blinds.

This unconventional play is not exploitable forever, anyway. When Matusow believed that A has A-K or similar, he is gambling.

Most players will call with pocket pairs but I doubt in this case that A will call with less than 10-10.

Against A-A or K-K or a higher pair, 10-5 will win only about 15% of the time, and with 10-10 to 5-5, about 25%, and with 4-4 to 2-2, nearly a coin flip.

UB.com Online Poker Room Earns Great Poker Room Reviews

October 16, 2011 De

The online poker room UB.com has recently earned great poker room reviews, and not just from poker room review writers. Loyal players at UB.com recently earned extra rewards, simply by being present when an event with a chance of 0.031% of happening actually occurred.

A 60 year old Texas woman with the screen name KAPPIT triggered UB.com’s Bad Beat Jackpot on Tuesday September 7, 2010. The Bad Beat Jackpot automatically kicks in whenever a player experiences particularly bad luck. The jackpot is often so high that it more than softens the blow-it turns bad luck into great luck.

KAPPIT was playing through the CEREOUS Network website. She was certain she was about to win the hand with quad nines. In what seemed like an awful twist of fate, her opponent beat her with quad queens. The opponent was player name CJBV. CJBV won the hand, but KAPPIT took home the larger winning.

KAPPIT’s loss with quad nines to quad queens kicked in the Bad Beat Jackpot, and suddenly everybody in the online poker room at the time became a winner. Much like the lottery, the Bad Beat Jackpot gains value over time. At the moment it kicked in, the Bad Beat Jackpot was up to $670,575.38 KAPPIT took the largest part of the Bad Beat Jackpot with $218,115.71. Her opponent, CJBV, who won the hand, received a payout of $109,057.85. Every other player currently present on the online poker room, 610 players in total, walked away with $89.36 simply for being there to witness the big moment. It was a big moment all around.

KAPPIT’s bad luck turned into great luck for her and 611 other players. It also turned into great luck for UB.com. Thanks to the Bad Beat Jackpot being triggered, the online poker room reviews have been abuzz with talk of the game room. It already had great reviews, but more positive press iswell, more positive press. Positive press drives more players to the site.

Just three days after the Bad Beat Jackpot was triggered by KAPPIT’s momentous loss, the cumulative jackpot was already back up to $275,654.34. New players have been flocking to the site for a chance to try their luck. The Bad Beat Jackpot doesn’t trigger until a player loses with quad eights or higher, which is highly unlikely. It certainly gives new meaning to the old Zen wisdom: there is no good luck nor bad luck. There is only luck.

Top-5 Online Poker Stories Review

October 16, 2011 De

It’s been a busy year in the online poker world, and not just on the felt. In fact, poker made headlines in the courtroom as well as Washington D.C. While there are still a few weeks left – and the potential for more big news to come before the New Year- here are something about top-5 stories in the poker world for 2010.
1. Harry Reid’s online poker bill
The number one story on our list is the story with the biggest potential ramifications, both presently and in years to come. It is also a story whose conclusion is still very up in the air. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has been trying to build support for a bill that would license and regulate Internet poker in the United States. The hope is the bill will get attached to the Obama tax cut compromise bill during this lame-duck session of Congress. The effects of this bill would have an enormous impact on the global poker market.Casino City’s Vin Narayanan wrote an informative column about the details of the legislation, as the bill effectively shuts out offshore competition like Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars for at least a couple of years. The bill favors large commercial casinos, with most of them based in Reid’s home state of Nevada. However, all of this discussion may be for naught, as there are rumblings it will be difficult for Reid to attach this bill. But regardless of whether the bill becomes law, it’s always a good thing when the mainstream media discusses online or free online poker games, as long as it isn’t scandal-related.

2. PokerStars, Full Tilt pull out of Washington
After the UIGEA was enacted in 2006, many major online poker rooms, including Party Poker, left the U.S. market. PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker did not. That’s a major reason why they’re the two largest poker rooms in the world. The two sites even remained accessible to players in the state of Washington, despite the state having some of the toughest online gambling laws in the country. That all changed in September, when the Washington State Supreme Court ruled that a statewide ban on Internet gambling was not unconstitutional. A week later, PokerStars announced it was no longer accepting real-money players from the state. Full Tilt followed suit six weeks later. There is a difference between the two bans. PokerStars won’t accept Washington residents at all, while Full Tilt will allow residents to play real-money games if they are located outside of the state’s borders.
3. Duhamel makes WSOP Main Event history
The person who knocked out Mizrachi was the eventual WSOP Main Event champion, Jonathan Duhamel. The 24-year-old from Montreal made history with his victory as he became the first Canadian to win the prestigious event. Duhamel entered final table play as the chip leader, but lost that chip lead when play became seven-handed. He fought and clawed back, and after winning the largest pot in WSOP history (177 million chips) off Joseph Cheong, he was the overwhelming favorite heading into heads-up play against John Racener. He defeated Racener to win $8,944,310 and his first gold bracelet. You can get more news in Absolute Poker.
4. The year of Michael Mizrachi
Frank Kassela might have won the WSOP Player of the Year Award, but no player was more impressive in 2010 than The Grinder, Michael Mizrachi. Mizrachi’s big year came just in time as he had serious financial problems due to failed investments in Florida. He won more than $1.5 million after taking down the $50,000 Poker Player’s Championship, his first WSOP gold bracelet. Casual poker fans were reintroduced to Mizrachi after his performance in the Main Event. He was one of four Mizrachi brothers who cashed in the event. He did much more than cash, however. He was a member of the November Nine and briefly held the chip lead during the final table. He eventually finished in fifth place and won more than $2,332,992.
5. The debut of the North American Poker Tour
PokerStars continued to stay one step ahead of the game this year, launching the North American Poker Tour.
